the intersection of art + music

Following the success of our Wonder II event on 28 May 2016, where singer-songwriter Jean Tan serenaded us with her soothing voice and gently strummed guitar while award-winning artist Namiko Chan painted portraits for the audience, we take you into another eclectic installment of wonder.

This time, we welcome live looping musician Roz Ecrus in collaboration with poet Marc Nair.

This performance explores a live improvisation of sounds and music set to the poetry of travel. Marc will be reading from his book, Spomenik, an collection of poems and photographs from the Balkans.

About Roz Ecrus

ROZ began composing originals at the age of 15.

He was the principal singer songwriter for 90’s Singapore’s Indie Rock Quartet ECRUS GARAGE.

ECRUS GARAGE’s Debut E.P. ‘Sound’ released in 1997 was initially used to ‘shop’ the band around, securing gigs in the local music circuit. In 1998, the band was selected to be part of the illustrious BIG “O” magazine Singles Club No 5 with other stalwards like ”The Boredphucks, Livonia & Force Vomit.

Roz has always idolized eccentric people, street performers & mediums. He worships David Bowie, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Diamanda Galas, Jane’s Addiction and Soundgarden.

Roz’s live shows are soul-expanding, thought provoking, tinged with melancholic drugged out stratospheric abandonment, and needed to be seen in order to feel the full impact.

He is one of the first few musicians in Singapore to incorporate live looping technology in live settings.
